VNC Scan boasts the most comprehensive
deployment tool for VNC servers. The deployment wizard can be initiated
from a number of convenient locations within the program. You have
the choice of entering destination computer names manually, selecting
from the list of local network computers (Network Neighborhood style),
or from exiting computers from previous scans.
Deployment starts with the deployment
wizard that can be accessed by right-clicking a computer and choosing
the "Deploy VNC Here" link. The wizard will ask you if you wish to
use a saved profile or if you would like to create a new one with fresh
settings.
If you create a new one, you have the
choice of what version of VNC you wish to deploy. I highly suggest
using UltraVNC. They are, by far, the most advanced VNC server out
there and there will be heavy support for its features in future
versions of VNCScan.
Once you get to the last page of the
wizard, you will notice a DOS looking box pop up and then go away
quickly. Its job is to write the settings into files that the push
script can understand and then copy those files into a folder named
after your new profile name. That folder is located in the VNCScan
program folder and the files are editable with notepad if you wish.
The most powerful screen in the wizard
is the second to last one. It allows you to add custom server
settings to your profile. There are so many flavors of VNC out
there that a wizard that kept all of their settings would have far too
many pages.
Instead, you can enter the key, data type, and
value of the setting that you want included on the servers that you
deploy and the registry settings will be applied when you push the
profile out. For a list of registry settings for Ultr@ VNC, click
