VNC Remote Control
in Safe Mode
Updated in version 2006.7.11.7
Overview
Most annoying spyware and Trojans can only be removed while the computer
is in safe mode. Before VNCScan, there was no utility on the
market that allowed remote control of a desktop while the computer was
in safe mode.
In the
latest version, we've raised the bar a bit higher for the copycats by
including our own safeboot.exe on the desktop of the remote computer for
easy switch-back to normal mode and by making the wizard more user
friendly.
How it works
-
Right-click a
computer or a group of computers in a managed group and select
"Windows Tools" and then "Reboot Computer(s)".
-
If you are running as
an unprivileged user, enter an administrative username and password.
If the computer is not joined to a domain, leave the domain field as
%HOST%. If it is joined to a domain, enter the domain
administrator username and password along with the domain name in
the appropriate fields.
-
Select the type of
reboot that you wish to do:
Normal Reboot
- The computer will be set to reboot into a normal Windows session
SafeMode Reboot
- The computer will be set to reboot into safe mode with VNC
support. A copy of safeboot.exe will be copied to the remote
desktop for easy switching back to Normal Mode.
Shut Down -
The remote computer will be shut down and poweed off.
-
Choose the additional
Options after pressing 'Next'
Force Reboot -
All processes will be killed with no prompting so that the reboot is
forced
Allow End User to
Cancel - The cancel button will be enabled on the shutdown
prompt for the end user
Display a message
- This message will be above the cancel button presented to the end
user to let them know why the system is rebooting
-
Press Next and
